Why “Gulliver”?
Like the hero of Jonathan Swift’s brilliant satire “Gulliver’s Travels,” I find our world a place of wonder, beauty, and horror. And like Gulliver, I am also concerned about the general condition of the world and of the human race. These are the things I like to write about.

Also, “Gulliver’s Travels” (or, more correctly, “Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World by Lemuel Gulliver”) is my personal favorite work of fiction in the English language.

cocosWhy “.CC”?
Many visitors have asked about this! Well, ‘.cc’ is the new internet country code for Cocos (Keeling) Islands — just as ‘.us’ is for the United States. People all over the world are starting to use .cc addresses as alternatives to the crowded ‘.com/.org/.net’ universe. I guarantee you’ll be seeing more ‘.cc’ sites soon … Meanwhile, it seemed appropriate for a site named for a famous explorer of island nations!

Someday I hope to actually see the Cocos Islands. They’re in the Indian Ocean south of Indonesia, so they are among the most remote places in the world …
