Who is Sherlock Holmes?
Sherlock Holmes is the most famous private detective in the world, known by the mystery cases in which has been involved with great success. Τhis fantastic detective has succeeded due to strange methods used to cripple millions of readers around the world.
But who was really Sherlock Holmes? Was he a real living person or just another lifeless fictional character?
Let’s start with his beginning, As most of you know Sherlock Holmes was created in 1887 by the renowned writer Arthur Conan Doyle, and although he was just a fictional character born from the writer’s imagination many people consider that the character was based on a real person.
Sherlock Holmes was described as a man who was living in good old London. His physical appearance was mentioned in books as a very tall and thin man who had a long and thin nose. Not exactly the guy we all know and love, right? Further more he usually wear a tweeted suit, brown trouser and most of the times you will see him with an ulster.
Sherlock Holmes used to smoke pipes, the most characteristic of them was an old black pipe.
He is mentioned as an eccentric man who loved precision and concentration of thought and as the most obvious weakness was the fact that he was impatient. He gained fame by discovering the truth even in the most complex mysteries. With the help of Dr. John Watson, his faithful partner, Sherlock Holmes can confront and neutralize criminals of all types.
As his faithful partner said, Holmes is an excellent swordsman and even the stick in his hands is a dangerous weapon.
Sherlock Holmes concentrates in his mind only the knowledge that believes will be useful in his profession as he says “Our brain is like a loft. The wise man carefully chooses how will configure it, using only the important knowledge while others that may be important in the future place should be placed in the library of his mind”.
